*One Week Later...

Just one week after Kate was born, we had to move to Vegas for the summer for Joe's internship.  We rented and apartment since Grandma and Grandpa sold their house to Zack and Sandy and moved into a small condo while their house is being built. Our apartment was right next door to their condo.

Our flight was delayed three hours once we were at the airport and the flight lasted another three.  One week after a C-section and six hours of sitting was a little rough. We were so glad grammy was with us to help.  Joe drove our stuff out a few days earlier so it could be there when we arrived. Luckily grandpa was there too and helped us get settled into our apartment.

*Kate Meets the Kelly's

We have loved spending time with our new sister.  She is such a good baby.  She sleeps really well and loves to be held all the time.

She has the cutest dimple on her cheek.  I can't get enough of it.

Trish came over with her kids to meet Kate.  Truman was so happy to see his friends.

Truman doesn't want any help holding Kate.  He's such a big boy.

Trum, Josh and Noah watching cartoons while we visit.

Sweet baby Emily.  We love the Kellys so much.

*Kate Arrives Home!

Kate is home. It was so fun to have her actually here. Truman checked out her little fingers and toes and was so sweet with her.

He is such a good big brother. I can't believe we have two kids! Oh, it's the best!

Truman has been having the best time with Grammy. She is the best and we are so thankful that she has come for the week.

*BABY KATE IS HERE!

Baby Kate arrived on May 20, 2005. She was 8.5 pounds...She was my first C-section and I'm so thankful I had the doctor I did.  I did get nauseous and throw up after my spinal tap, but that was because he lowered me too fast and put my head a little too low. After that, it all went smoothly. Her sweet little head came out so round and perfect and she is beautiful.

They didn't have room for me in the recovery room so they took Kate to the nursery and I sent Joe with her.  I didn't get to see my baby for two whole hours.  I about forced myself off the table to go find her when they finally had a room for me.  I was so relieved to hold her but she was in her "sleepy phase" (according to what the nurses said) and she wouldn't wake up to nurse.  That went on for a day and a half.  She would start to nurse and then fall asleep before she latched on. The nurses weren't too worried about it but it was making me super nervous. Finally, they had me express some milk and syringe it into her mouth and as soon as she tasted it, she latched right on and nursed.  Thank goodness.  After that she nursed like a charm.

Grandma and Truman arrived to meet the new sister. Truman was so cute with her and really happy with the new train he got.

I was so worried about how my little family would be changed with a new addition.  What I couldn't understand then and what I understand now is our capacity for love to expand and grow.  Our hearts are fuller and we are so in love.  Welcome to the famly, baby Kate. We love you so much.

*Getting Ready For Baby Sister

We picked up grandma at the airport a couple of days before baby Kate was born.  This is our last offical family picture of just the three of us.

One last wrestle with dad as an only child.

Truman is such a self-entertainer.  He has always been so content to play with his toys by himself, especially his trains.  I love listening to him as he plays, making up stories and scenarios of what's happening.  He has such an amazing imagination.  He is funny!

My second big belly picture. Baby girl was ready to get out!
